Recycle your Christmas tree

Residents in Rhondda Cynon Taf are being encouraged to take their Christmas trees to local supermarkets for recycling in the New Year, instead of putting them out with the household rubbish.
Staff from Rhondda Cynon Taf’s recycling team will be on hand at recycling points at the stores listed below. Trees will be taken away for chipping, and Christmas cards and wrapping paper can also be recycled - as well as household batteries (no vehicle batteries).
Recycling points will be at:
Tesco - Upper Boat 9.00 am-10.30 am 8th Jan 07
Tesco - Talbot Green 11:30 am-1.00 pm 8th Jan 07
Pioneer - Porth 2.00 pm- 3.30 pm 8th Jan 07
Somerfield - Tonypandy 9.00 am -10.30 am 9th Jan 07
Tesco - Aberdare 11.30 am -1.00 pm 9th Jan 07
You can also drop your tree off for recycling at the following Civic Amenity sites:
Ferndale, Treorchy, Gelli, Dinas and Bryn Pica during normal opening hours (8.00am-5.30pm) or Unit G1 Coedcae Lane Ind. Estate Talbot Green during normal opening hours (9.30am-2.30pm)
Tetra packs - the containers that milk, juices and other liquids come in - can also now be recycled. These can be put in the clear bags with your other items in our kerbside recycling scheme.
Councillor Steve Carter, the Council’s Anti-Litter Champion, said: “Please remember to recycle all your extra waste over the Christmas period - including Tetra packs, bottles, cans and even your tree! And why not make it your New Year’s resolution to recycle more in 2007?”
ยท Everyone in Rhondda Cynon Taf can recycle from home through the Council’s kerbside recycling scheme. Recycling bags can be obtained free from your collection crew or by calling 01443 494700. Or pick them up from libraries, Communities First offices or the council’s One4All centres. You can also leave a sticker/note on your bags requesting more before you run out.
